Greetings, This is my first post. I hope I'm not blowing it.....

I’ve installed the 2010 version of Orbiter I seem to be having a bizarre problem. I never had this problem with the older version. I’ve searched for an answer to no avail. Maybe someone here will have the answer.

In the simulation, I have no rotational control. I can’t rotate my spacecraft at all. I.e.: number pad 1 and 3 do not work in rotation mode. It’s like there is an autopilot on, but there is not. I push the keys, but there is no rotation.

I can start different scenarios and the spacecraft actually stop rotating after startup. For instance, if I start the “Smack!” scenario in the “Delta-Glider” folder; when the scenario opens in external view, the two spacecraft momentary rotate, and then stop. If I try to rotate in rotation mode with number-pad key 1 or 3 nothing happens. I am set on a fixed heading. All the other keys on the number-pad work fine like “up & down” thrusters.

I know my computer pretty well, but I can’t seem to figure this one out. What am I missing? Can anyone offer a suggestion? Help!

what about this: can you see the RCS firing and animating? it would be interesting to know if your commands are being executed at some level or just completely ignored.

also, what about this: can you type 1 or 3 :) lol!

Firstly, :welcome: to OF! We're skirting on the edge of some scheduled downtime at the moment but with luck we can get you some attitude control and something to do while OF is offline.

Firstly, congratulations on clearly reading the documentation! You'd be surprised how few people seem to do that, especially lately.

Now, to business. Does this happen (or not happen, more accurately) in every vessel? If you have Orbiter Sound installed and enabled you should get an audible clue of the RCS firing, sometimes it's difficult to see.

Occasionally some game controllers can interfere with the attitude control, but it's odd that such a selective control function should be affected and not just all the RCS thrusters. Try disabling any joysticks, nevertheless, if you haven't already.

Other addons and modules can confuse the issue too, so if you haven't already, try it out on a clean install of Orbiter and see if the problem exists in that.

One final note - We have a black skin available for use on this forum, which I myself am quite partial to - one thing which does happen is when people post in black, it makes it very difficult to read the post. Leaving it in default colours is better for our eyes because it automatically reformats it to compensate.

Again, welcome to OF, hope we can help you!

Just to double-check, do you mean you can't rotate (bank) the ship? If so, the numpad 4 and 6 keys handle that. Or do you mean you cannot yaw the ship (the numpad 1 and 3 keys)?

And :welcome: to the forum! :hello:

I know you said there's no autopilot on, but it does sound like KILLROT is engaged-is the numpad 5 key stuck on?

YOUR TEXT IS WAY TOO BIG!

The default setting of 2 will do, thank you. :)
The 'themes' are available via a small drop-down menu at the very bottom left hand corner of every page on Orbiter-Forum. I use 'Dark Nights', which is one of the darker skins.

Do you have a spare keyboard? Everyone should have a spare keyboard.

I'd try it with that, but I'm clutching at straws on this one, I'm afraid.

Also, yes, that text was massive. Can we really not just write in the default colour and size?

Sorry for the huge text. Please forgive me. I "cut and pasted" it. My eyes are not the best. - Thanks anyways for the help.
