Project SNC | Dream Chaser

Checking many pictures, I think the wings are pretty good, though possibly could be a Gnats :censored: thicker. Overall shape is very good.
Looking forward to this. :tiphat:

Well, it seems rather very good to me :

Maybe the angle of the wings is a bit too narrow ?

Ok I changed the angle of Wing a little bit. Also I made the Wing a little bit shorter in the lenght. Do they look better now, or should I change the Angle a little bit more ?

Thanks for the Note  !

Looks alittle flat under the nose, compared to the above pic, and the cockpit needs to be narrower. IMO

Well, here's a schematic of the HL-20 from NASA, the proportions and angles should be exact on it :

A good thing to do can be to print it and mesure the angles with a protractor. So you will really be close from reality.

The problem is that the picture above is the HL-20 and i work on Dream Chaser, which has a slighty different Shape than HL-20 so i cant take the reference picture of HL-20 always ;D. I will try out, how the wing angle will look like, with the HL-20 reference picture.

here is a sideview picture of the Dream Chaser ETA Vehicle, which i used as reference for the Nosecone.

Well, you have it there for the DreamChaser :

I highly recommend you the reading of the whole thread, full of very interesting information for your project.

Wow, thanks sooo much for the Link :D. why didn't I found this, i even bought L2 access for Informations about dream chaser! Thanks again !! :D

seems like i should have read all threads on nasaspaceflight ;D.

Update ;D
(View in 3D)

Changed the shape "alot" to better fit to the new reference Pictures. But theres still a lot to change. On my list are currently the cockpit, since it is a pretty big mess and the Gears. If somebody sees some more things that should get changed, please tell me !

edit : There may be a little bit polishing needed at some places, especially at the Wings. I will do that later on when i am ready with the other stuff. (cockpit, gears etc.)

update (2013/05/20)

----------------------------
Dream Chaser (View in 3D)

I re-arranged the Cockpit windows and cleaned it up a little bit in general.

Also I added the Front gear / skid again and put the rear landing gear on the right position. I think i will start the texturing soon :) !

If you're going to make a virtual cockpit, here's Rex Walheim piloting a mockup of the cockpit. A very intricate design, almost nothing like the Shuttle and a lot more like a commercial airliner.

Here's some pictures of the ALT vehicle.

Hey :),

First of all thanks for the great Pictures .
Although they only show a Flight Simulator(http://www.nasa.gov/topics/aeronautics/features/testing_on_deck.html with the Dream Chaser Simulation Software installed, i think i might still orient myself at this, like you said, more Commercial looking Cockpit. The first VC will be anyways just a Placeholder, until there are more Informations available about the real Cockpit.

////////

I am currently at the process of unwrapping .. but for some reason the unwraps are asymmetric, although the mesh is perfectly symmetric.

You're right, I think that is a flight simulator. I was seeing it advertised as the DC cockpit, so you could understand my confusion. :P

-------Update-------- :
Got the unsymmetrical uv map Problem kind of solved ...

So i have some basic Textures on the model so far, but theres still a lot more to do. All the textures that are currently on the model, are more or less placeholders (well there are only 2 different texture patterns sofar on the model  )

Dream Chaser Textured (View in 3D)

So ... Apart from the bluestripes between most textures (which will be away after some polishing) and the Dream Chaser looking like it is going to steal the iss as soon as it is docked to it, I think the Heat textures should be positioned right.

Ahh nice thanks  . Soo seems like i have to re-arage the Heat texture at the Windows a little bit ^^. I have anyway to polish that area, since the edges there are horrible sharp etc. .

Worked on the Textures. At the last attempt the UVs where messy and not really useable. Also i forgot the RCS ports ... not quite sure how i was able to forget them. So this new Texture is kind of ... dirty .. there might be too much, but i would first like to hear some other opinions.

ohh and i will add the low resolution cockpit, that you see from the outside, soon. The really basic shape is somewhat finished, but i still have some problems with the spacing between the windows.
