Launch News SpaceX Falcon 9 v1.2 with SES-9 March 4 2016

SES and SpaceX are now targeting to launch #SES9 on Sunday, 28 February, at 6.46pm ET, with a backup date on Monday, 29 February!

Interesting mix of weather and LOX cooling. Apparently, they want to launch in the front of the 90 min window, ASAP, to keep the most LOX in the tank, to get the absolute max burn possible for their customer. This whole flight is really stretching the limits of what SpaceX can deliver.

Per SES: if they can get a few more m/s of DV, then they can cut the circularization time from 90 days to 45 days. It'll be fascinating to see the transfer orbit they can achieve if/when they launch today.

Bit off-topic maybe but how would SpaceX handle with the sub-cooled LOX issues during more hotter days on the Cape (or even at Vandenberg) without insulation? Because as so far we seen now, sub-cooled LOX looks to be more tricky then normal LOX, let alone the complexity of it.

Primarily shorter launch windows, but the difference is not that huge. Between freezing and a hot summer day at the cape there are only a few dozen Kelvin difference.

T-2 hours from Attempt #3. Weather is excellent today, and no problems being worked. Hopefully today is the day.

Let's go SpaceX!

Away at a conference, good hotel, cheap mini-bar, and a rocket launch.

Can't see the live feed, has it launched?

Like the trippy space music in the stream...it's like going to an IMAX show.

I put links to LiveStream and YouTube on the original post and here:

I've had good luck with the YouTube links.

Stream has started at 18:25 EST

The engineers are shaving and putting ties on to present a professional appearance.

Ha ha ha! No. Hipster scruffiness. Damned kids.

Anti-hipster scruffiness aside, pretty cool talk-through of their engineering and procedures.

Scrub! What was that all about?

EDIT: LOX still too damn slow. Dammit.

Another midnight hour for watching five minutes of intensive scrubbing.

Range safety violation at T-01:33. Everything was good until then, including LOX loadout.

Fueled range. Crap
It's "fouled Range", not "fueled Range". Something entered the Range Safety boxes (either aircraft or boat) which caused the Range to be NO-GO.

Had a very sleepy five year old on my lap, hard to type. My apologies. But yes, a FOULED range.

It was probably Jeff Bezos's yacht.

Countdown clock reset to T-10:42. No scrub yet

Possibly the GIANELLA, according to AIS, had left Cape Canaveral some hours ago and is under way to Jacksonville.
