Its been awhile since the last shuttle launch. 9 months and 6 days to be exact.

If memory serves correct, this is the longest gap between two shuttle flights since STS-114/121.. but that was because the shuttle was forced to standown after 114's foam liberation event, and obviously the gap between 107/114 and 51L/26 being much longer. This is the longest 'nominal' delay between two shuttle launches since, well I don't ever recall a 9 month gap between two shuttle missions. Only thing I can think of that comes close without having to take a look at wiki is the gap between STS-1 and 2 which was 7 months.

Another thing, this is the first of the lasts for the space shuttle program. 2 days after Discovery lands for the last time we'll be watching 134 Endeavour rollout to LC39A for the last time.. followed by the grand finale of STS-135.

You should be able to pick up the tower chatter when they land from here.

They landed :)

Spaceflightnow: Shuttle Discovery's crew arrives at Florida spaceport
February 20, 2011

The shuttle Discovery's five-man one-woman crew flew to the Kennedy Space Center Sunday to prepare for another launch try Thursday, more than three-and-a-half months after the flight was put on hold because of cracks in the ship's external tank.

Awesome Pete ! Let me know, if you ever want any Orbiter ISS screen shots. :hello:

The ISS is flying over my observatory tonight at a 75 degree elevation angle.
Since the weather is clear I'll try to take some pictures through my scope again ( some of you who know me have seen my pictures before).
I'll post them tomorrow if they work out.
