Project Universal Car for Orbiter (UCO)

No public beta for a while. The bug list is getting shorter but other matters have hindered the release of any more beta's for a while.

I've still got 20 minutes of Tuesday left, Dan didn't say where it had to be Tuesday.

Thanks for the update Tl8 and sunshine.

Yes, Get well soon Dan. Orbiter will still be here when you get back. Don't worry about the impatient moaning from us users. This will just give us more time to imagine the possibilities of UCGO and what we will do with it.

Thanks,

I feel a bit better today so I'll resume operation.
I'm affraid I'll not do a big work because I'm not 100% and when dealing
with so much files& source it's better to have a clear mind.

Thats why I have a strict "don't drink and develop" attitude.

Get well Dan!

I hope you're feeling back to normal soon Dan.

I have been away from orbiter for quite some time, but have alsways really enjoyed Dans DGIV. I own Dans FSPX and have been simming in FSX for the last couple years. After seeing Dans UCGO just yesterday, I am really excited to get back into Orbiter, although not until I can get my hands on the new DGIV, UCGO and the new UMMU update.

My question is... where can I donate to Dans slush fund for this great project?

Really that is how Dan makes money and if you support him, he will support us.

Back to dutie, curiously the "end of years" drinking seem to have killed the last viruses of my bad cold and I feel really better yet.

Now it's time to finish the darn things ;) I plan to make a last closed beta than release a "semi-public" beta. I expect to get the final release within 10 days. First because it's now about four month that I work on UCGO and evreything must be released one day and second because I cannot work for free more longer. Fortunately UCGO seem to work nicelly yet. There might be some issue as any complex software but nothing too serious.

Dan

Where can I apply to be a part of the last closed beta?
Would like to help contribute and give bug feedback so the final release can finish.

from here "Team is complete yet sorry... maybe later ?"

The problem of the old UMmu 1.5 is that it had a serious bug that caused CTD when ingress an UMmu and scenario with more than 10-20 vessels. (not all CTD ingress are due to this, some module don't like we delete one vessel but hey)

This was not so frequent as scenario with many vessel are rare but now with UCGO you can reach 20-40 vessel in no time with the cargos.

So I was really annoyed, asking ALL authors to recompile their addon with the new UMmu 2.0 SDK is of course not possible, some may have quit Orbiter since.

So I found a way to patch the dll with a utility. Provided with UMmu 2.0 it will detect all the dll with UMmu 1.5 and patch them. User can use it to patch old addons that cause CTD but Author can use it also to modify their "1.5" dll if they don't want to recompile. (this patch will NOT of course add the UMmu 2.0 features, only clear this bug)

The patch work manually (hexediting dll) now I'm writting the utility to do the same.

Currious if addon developers like Doug are already preparing to update thier succesfull addons such as the XR2 and XR5 to be UCGO compatible?

JB

I suspect any developers that are still around would be willing to recompile. They will need to if they want to have UMmu as the next version of Orbiter will almost certainly use the more complex atmospheric models that are instantly lethal to existing 1.5 units (unless legacy model is selected).

But definitely, anything that lessens CTD in Orbiter is a plus.
