I really think you should consider adding a second docking port to the Arrow. What if a player wants to stage everything at a station before departure?
 
Sigh...I leave Orbiter completely for a few years, come back, and see that Dan has bases with 3D radar, cars driving around cities, and spaceships that look better than anything NASA has dreamed up thus far. So what else is new? :)

Just sticking my head in the door to say hello, and to gawk like everyone else at the awesomeness that is Dan and his creations :) Great job Dan!

I agree but if I don't release within a reasonnable time the users here, my customers and my bank will all agree to hang me at the higher tree possible.

Arrow, cars cargos, UMMU or DGIV 2.0 all need one "necessary" feature more.

The difference beetween a nice concept that remain a concept and a real finished software is to know when to stop and cut. It's not easy, I learned it hard way the 20 past years. I added now 10x what I thought at first it's now time to head on for release and accept to leave somes things as they are.

Project creep? We have that same problem here at work... We are in an outage, and there are alway people wanting to add more work into an already time-critical evolution. Either stuff gets done during the outage, or it doesn't get done at all. The engineers just have to take what we can give them.
 
Here an image of the former project Symphony, the interior was absolutely not completed but the 3d radar worked perfectly showing Vessels flying around base:

That's pretty cool, I made (and sell) the exact same thing in Second Life, except it tracks avatars, not vehicles. Due to technical limitations, it scans with a range of 96 meters. And yeah, it was pretty easy to code.

I'm okay, Dan, how about you? :) :beer: right back atcha....although, I was diagnosed with celiac disease last year, so unfortunately no more beer allowed for canadave! :(

I saw those preview videos while lurking this thread yesterday....the "surprise" one was...well......a surprise! :) But an amazing, gorgeous surprise.

No surprise that you came up with something that good, though, that's for sure. I can't wait for Tuesday ;) I'll be crazy waiting by Monday!

I've got a few other things on the go here that are going to keep me from Orbiter for the next little while....but around the time the new version is out, I should be able to spend some time reacquainting myself with the space sim I love......

Hey Dan wondering in the next version of Ummu, you could make some tech type Ummu guys, you know like guys in overalls that work on the rocket engines at, like cape canaveral or any of the other space ports.Thanks

Remember, the idea is that Dan is going to work the tough stuff out for you! If you are looking for different UMMUs, it might be a good time for you to learn Anim8tor or another mesh program and create your own.
 
As said above or on previous page, Well a great author is now doing UMMU with cloth (breathable base or on earth) they will wear a sort of blue .. things (don't know the name) as seen in some shuttle crew photo.

I almost completed the vessel cargo SDK that allow also to "eat" cargos to get fuel, oxygen or various goodies. Logically it needed also something to get ressources from stations, mine, factory wich will have infinite ressources.
(in contrary of cargo that disappear once completely "eaten")

This was planned. I plan also to do a tank in orbit for vessel and maybe a gas station for other planet.

A station require only a mesh and 5 lines in a config file, keyword as "oxygen, fuel, gold.. etc. " define the type of goodies one vessel or cars can grab here. Author can with the SDK call a function with the wanted keyword. If a mine,factory, or station is in range the desired quantity is returned. (charge for the author to do a "gold, hydrogen" or whatewer tank or counter)

This one allow to get fuel hydrogen and oxygen:

Nice work there dan the whole thing looks great and I look forward to giving it a run.

Side note about your earlier feature too far remark: My Dolby Pro Logic system looks forward with great anticipation for dolby surround from orbiter...

Would not be complicated to do but, no, not for this version. Each model take me time to do (half a day for the gas station) and the code would need some refinment to be user friendly, one week of work I would say for the total.

There is so much features in UCGO that I wonder how much peoples will notice them all :) I'll put video in the download page, maybe that would help ? (few peoples read doc)

Makes sense otherwise there will be so many features that people won't know how to use it or what to do first and it'll push the release back for a decade!
 
Would it be possible to have third-party factories with the current API for the cargo add-on?

I noticed beer too Dan. I can see some of those Martian Hops needing a store to go to ;)
