Please don't flame the new Trilogy if you like Star Wars, only thing good came out of that was Episode III (Which was good) Were you a fan of the Old star wars growing up? I know I was.

I've liked the old Star Wars for a long time. I've seen it when I was in my younger teen days several times and A new hope and Return of the Jedi not too far back recently. Now looking for The Empire Strikes back since I haven't seen it for quite a while. Which was my favorite of the trilogy.

Star Wars is my favourite saga. I've seen it since I was 1! It's thanks to it if I looked the first time at the stars a long time ago... When I was a child, my dream was to be an X-Wing pilot. Now I am an airplane pilot, and when I'm alone piloting my plane, I can hear the Star Wars soundtrack in my ears...

Old and new I liked them both. Both because both had a great storyline. The newer ones obviously outdo the older ones due to newer effects technology, primarily the CGI stuff, which enabled things to be done that could not have been done in the originals. Another bit of the newer ones, specifically III, which tied to IV. For example, in the first movie, Obi wan gives Luke the saber that 'belonged to his father'. In III, after defeating Anakin you can clearly see Obi wan bend over and take the saber that he will give to Luke in episode IV. There's a few neat little pieces of the story like that in III, which showed the attention to detail that was put into the movie, which, aside from the better effects, was really cool.
As for the old ones, I love them as much as the newer ones, it's all part of the same big 'Star Wars' saga, and to me, I couldn't like one and not the other, I like them all equally well. (Although some of the movies were better than others).
My personal favorite is III because of how it ties up the whole story, and did a great job of doing it.

Naw, I'm 25 to be exact and a Seamen in the United States Navy. Let me rephrase, Episode III was the best of the New Star Wars. Episode V was THE best star wars.

Love the entire saga, but III is the best of the new movies and V is the best of the old.

I saw the original Star Wars movie when it was first released. I was pretty young and had to see it twice to remember the details. Back then there was no such thing as DVDs, videotape players, and cable TV movie channels were a new thing and didn't have the clout to get Star Wars, so if you didn't see it in the theatres, you didn't get to see it period. Even without youtube, me and my buddies pretty much memorized every line and scene, and played them all out with the toys.
As for Greg, well, it's fantasy, not sci fi. It has a knight, a princess, a pirate/gunslinger, a wizard, a dark overlord bad guy who can choke people through the phone (wouldn't THAT be a handy skill), and fighter pilot-style heroism. To paraphrase your own line to Urwumpe a while back, did they do surgery on you to remove the part of your brain that makes you want to jump up and down and do fun stuff? ;-)

Yea, they're pretty cool for what they are. But I prefer Stargate and Star Trek just for the expanded plotlines and greater possibilities.
And please don't take what I just said and turn this into SG/ST vs. SW!

Hell, I guess every kid likes star wars, even if I don't like them that much anymore...
Maybe I have a bit a special relationship to the old ones, because I had to fight to see them. My parents were a bit overprotective with movies, so as they were on TV I had to pull quite some tricks to be able to see at least one of them, allthough I was allready twelve at the time...

Anyway, yes, yes, I know it's fantasy, but you've also seen my boring rants about both the merits of real science fiction, and the problems with words getting hijacked and losing their meanings ... don't mind me. As I say, I'm just a grumpy old man ....
