Project Wideawake International: Ascension Ultra

A few days late but it seems no-one answered this!
It is a feature of UCGO, called "autopilot". ... <snip>... Make good material for a Demo Video showing off the base and the functionality!
Aaaah, I never knew that, I've not looked at UCGO too closely. Sounds like an awesome tool. Now I wonder, can this functionality be hacked through the API, or somehow triggered remotely... it would be a nice MFD function to 'call' for support vehicles and the like... But even without that, it will def be a thing we can code in during beta. Or rather, Carmen can. ;)

I did a UCGO scenario for my Newcastle(UK) airport add-on.
EGNT(Newcastle_UK)Ver2
Newcastle UCGO Scenario.
Shameless plug over.
I could have a go at doing one for WIA Ultra once its out.
EDIT: looks like this:

N.
Why aye man! nice stuff, I shall have to look into all this more closely when I get to that stage of dev. Much obliged for the working example sir.

just had a thought about ATC chatter: just make a new orbitersound radio channel, easy as that. [i hope]
We could either use real ATC chatter and mash them up into a channel, or we can do a community ATC pack with all of us roleplaying controllers and pilots :D
Heck today I was demoing on teamsound and OMP how to vector air/spacecraft and starships for formation ops to orbit and in space.
I was thinking of doing a custom pack for WIN certainly. And yes I had thought of asking the orbiter community for vocal help. However, I'm sure I did that once before and everyone is far too shy! We shall sort something out. What might be nice is a generic 'Near Future' pack, for use with all xr dg type tech scenarios, not just limited to WIN.

On the topic of UCGO capabilities they are almost unlimited. It's very easy to even add your own bus models (I can do a WIN Ultra livery for the bus), program support convoys, staff cars, and even refuelling trucks to automatically refuel spacecraft for launch at the start of the demo scenarios.
UCGO programmed cars in action look like this:
http://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?p=236098&postcount=454
I released a couple of scenarios with the XR5 Russian and Japanese repaints as well, which use the above setup for a drive to the ship and 3 landspeeders as chase vehicles for the takeoff run.
I'll look into this stuff too, cheers.

As for AIA bus liveries and such, don't worry, AIA is already expecting to commission some Carmen art work :D

And cheers for the space food stuff so far! Perfectly amusing! Big thanks.

far too shy!

They will not be shy once we get the ball rolling :3. OMP crew can gladly supply a ton of multinational voice clips. Heck I have 2 days worth of fraps inflight recordings and all of them contain pretty nice Space Truckers (tm) radio chatter over TS.

Speaking of Space Truckers...

Orbital food: Now that's fast food!

EscapeV food?

lol, these posters really are getting out of this world...

how many more bad pun jokes can we make?

Liking the new stuff Carmen, just about grounded in 'reality' enough ;)

... and even refuelling trucks to automatically refuel spacecraft for launch at the start of the demo scenarios.

Oh my goodness, I had never thought of that...

Picturing loading WIN-AU, and the scenario starting with the XR2 in refueling mode (for the last 5 or so seconds), and when it finishes (6 seconds from scenario start) the Refueling truck rolls away... Brilliant!

The refuel truck of UCGO even has some very authentic radio chatter. Try the demo scenarios :)

Remember there is a scenario on OH where you take "public transport" to your spacecraft at WIN? We can do an even better "sandbox" scenario where the player has various spacecraft to choose from all over the base (mature orbiter installs are stable and have like hundreds of rockets and ships in them). You just decide where to get off the bus :)

Or if you dont want to fly them then just sit in the bus and have a tour of the spaceport as it goes around in an endless loop.

Additional input on the lighted beacon idea.

I see there is a base control MFD - why not add a couple of (hidden) searchlights to help pilots coming in at night? In the stowed / day position the searchlight is enclosed in a tiny square building facing the ground. At the touch of a button on the base control system, it swings out and points at the sky (like Batman :D) for added awesomeness.

There could also be searchlights and small local lights pointed at company logos, high security areas, etc.

Also maybe a special "airshow sequence" where rows of searchlights form a 'path' of crossed lights for daredevil XR pilots to fly though inverted!

We could have generic searchlight installations too to add in scenarios, so the basic spaceport location is not unnecessarily cluttered, and people like me can help themselves to add searchlights (where are the AA guns?) to any scenario :D

I've yet to look into the new light feature, but I will do in due course. I want to include the function in the base for sure, but I need to have an experiment into what can be done. But I'm sure it will def be activated by the MFD.

And thanks for the new adds. Sleep well.

And here's a little snapshot of the basic layout idea for the new port facility.

I like the little port. Cute little port lol.

to texture the containers you could either use real container textures or XR5 container textures. I can make lots of XR5 container textures out of the existing ones, if desired.

Yeah, it's amazing how quickly 500m can look so short and cute... ;)

The port will be purely cosmetic, it won't be functional for cargo, beyond UCGO features and such. So I think I will include some 'container stacks' on the dock for eye-candy, but custom textures won't be necessary. Although more container skins are always welcome in general.

 I love the Cows on Mars!

Anyway, the ads look good and I just can't wait for the release!

Argh i am dying inside for this updated addon! :beathead:

Here's an alpha test shot of the function for you...
au19.jpg

Looks great! It could probably use some consoles or something to help flesh out the appearance, of course, but other than that minor detail, fantastic. Can't wait until Tuesday!

you should take a look at the VC of the control tower on FSX for some inspiration, consider putting a radar panel or two behind the camera point

other that that, bloody good job man ;)

If i only could use timewarp in real life. Tuesday is so far away! :suicide:

we all say tuesday... but does anyone besides FACE and WHAP know which?

I would assume this Tuesday otherwise they would say Tuesday week or next month or something like that.
