Couldn't you use the surface mesh of the existing flame bucket and roll your launchpad on top of that?

I know it is doable. But is would be a visual effect. Why not use the existing pad features?
The real one is above the surface, the crawler rolls up it at an angle so the vehicle remains level. It really is a visual effect but a powerful one to me. I think it's all the little details that make it feel more realistic.
Here's the AMSO launchpad, the flame trench is below the pad but still above the ground. This structure in real life remained intact and for the SLS program has been slightly modified, from what I recall they needed to reinforce the walls that make up the trench and the wedge shaped object to direct the thrust out (not back up into the engines) is getting a makeover to handle SLS's increased output.
