Omnibus heresy

In that case maybe all the buses should read 'There probably is a God' on one side and 'There probably isn't a God' on the other, with another slogan on the back saying 'You're never going to know for sure, give up.'

I suggest rather painting the following slogan in friendly letters on the side of the bus:

"Don't panic"

You should also note that most religions do not directly advertise. There are only a handful of denominations that 'demand' it. These include 7th Day Adventists, JWs, AOG(To some degree) and several other more unorthodox denominations.

Then i supose the Swedish Church is unorthodox :3

I was referring to Australia mainly.

Wait, what's this? Common sense prevailing over superstitious nonsense? Shock horror!

Bendy-buses, like atheism, are a danger to the public at large

People like this should be subjected to non-voluntary, long-winded lectures by extremely boring professors on physics, biology, geology. metaphysics and every other aspect of science their imaginary friends tell them to disagree with, until they stop using the excuse of their god hiding somewhere behind the laws of nature. They have been brainwashing humanity and stopping it's progress for thousands of years, it's high time we got rid of them.

If there really are a lot of christian ads on their busses, this is absolutely warranted.

But still, in my opinion, atheism should behave like any religion should.

Agreed.

And that means leaving people alone and let them seek their own believes without anyone telling them what is true and what is not.

Disagreed.

People have the right to try to propagate their religious beliefs.

And the people they try to convince have a right not to listen.

The religion that's true needs to convince people of its truth because the world generally is a better place when people act in accordance with reality. The religions that aren't true need to try to convince people so as to keep the true religion from getting complacent.

Well...as much as I think your delivery is far too angered and bitter, I agree mostly with what you're saying.

Also, how are bendy-buses a danger to the public?

Exactly. I was expressing my own ideal of how a religion should leave people alone. Freedom of speech, religion etc. is the most valuable thing we have.
They have the right and should never be stripped of it.

The freedom of religion ends, where the freedom of religion of another begins.

I think any kind of missionary work should be banned, but I doubt it will happen.

I'm not so sure about this - missionary work *can* be beneficial in places where humanitarian aid is needed. It depends on the application.

By that I mean... If you help people because you believe it's the right thing to do, and you feel better off for doing it, this is good. If you require that the people you help subscribe to your beliefs before you help them... that's bad.

Since we already spoiling everybody's fun, why stop there? We could also print "There is probably no Father Christmas" on the side of school buses, or "There is probably no high-paid industry job waiting after graduation" over the entrances of colleges.

I don't really agree with this. A lot of missionary work brings hope to people in terrible situations and whilst I don't necessarily agree with the religious aim of it, I do think that bringing people hope and making them feel as though they have a purpose is a good thing.

Well why not? It'd prepare people for the truth of life, and hopefully tone down some of the christmas bollocks...

Don't you think you can also bring hope to people and help them in terrible situations without forcing them to agree to your religious concepts?

What I want to know is, why does Britain have all the best, most articulate athiests? I'm envious. (Or is that a deadly sin?)

We have had more experience....

This is why the Cassegrain telescope was invented by a Catholic priest, and another Catholic priest came up with the Big Bang theory, among other things.:)

What stalls progress is not faith, it's monolithic power structures whether based on religion or anything else.
