Humor Why we love the IRC channel.

If there was Teflon skin for Orbiter Forum, I could stick to it. :P

01:06 < Woo482> well all my earlier post... they were badly spelt and hard-ish
to read..
01:06 < agentgonzo> You been sniffing glue again?

Lambo's helping me with cloning a hard drive, and I hit enter to give an update on how fast the transfer was less than a second before Lambo posted!
14:32 Zatman: getting better, 6.7 MB/s
14:32 Lambo: Zatman: so how is the speed?
14:32 Zatman is psychic
14:33Lambo: lol

Zatman has been having hard drive problems.

[23:05] Nerull: What sort of clicking sounds was it making earlier?
[23:05] Nerull: Was it *whirrr* *click* *whirrr* *click*
[23:05] Lambo: and if it starts making too many /bad/ noises... turn it off and let it cool down :|
[23:05] Krys: whir click = buh bye disc
[23:05] Nerull: Or sort of the constant clicking sound some drives make under load?
[23:05] Nerull: I'm not even sure clicking is the right word for that sound. ;)
[23:06] Krys: kerkerklunk
[23:06] Lambo: "scratching"
[23:06] Zatman: more like under load
[23:06] Zatman: But it hasn't done it recently
[23:06] Lambo: hrmm that doesn't sound right either
[23:06] Lambo: lol
[23:06] * Gary thinks he is in an #orbiter quiz "whats my disk failure"

This has occurred when there have been about 3 hard drive failures this week, all different people but surprisingly all the drives were 250GB

Did anyone mention the manufacturer(s) of those 3 drives...?

Oh, fantastic. I currently have a Seagate 250 GB drive hooked up to this PC... I guess I'll be looking into a new one soon.

Have you done a backup Arrowstar?

The greeting I get when entering IRC:
[11:25:13] tl8: It is alive!!
[11:25:37] TSPenguin: The bearer of the Knee of Satan has entered!
[11:27:32] TNeo: Hi Krys.
[11:28:12] Krys: alo

As you can clearly see, I am the only sane person on the IRC. :P

Nope. It's me... simply because I wrote nothing at all... as always ;).

You are like an oracle face. You say very, very little then offer words of wisdom to some issue and go quiet again.

It is scary!

Krys: The Seagate is my backup device for the laptop I own. Of course, I have about 200 GB of other data on it that has no where else to go, but it's something I need to think about solving.

Woo has a reputation:

[16:11:15] TNeo: The only way to position Earth around Jupiter would be magic (or a few edits to the .cfg file :P)
[16:11:22] TNeo: Even then I'm not sure if it would be safe
[16:11:26] Kaito: or just a big ass rocket
[16:11:31] Eccentrus: if only we have access to the universe's cfg file
[16:11:36] Kaito: oh lord
[16:11:39] TNeo: Kaito: No rocket would be powerful enough
[16:11:39] Kaito: dont give it to Woo!

and later....

If Earth is orbiting Jupiter by tomorrow, it was Woo482's fault... :shifty:

And here I was, thinking I was going to enjoy my life till December 21st 2012...

As long as Earth were outside the roche radius and radiation belts, you'd have perhaps a few days to contemplate the end before the entire planet froze to death...

But hey, look at the bright side- nibiru would completely miss Earth in 2012!
